Jeanie Checks In

Jeanie BussLakers Executive Vice President Jeanie Buss is back on Lakers Courtside Connection updating her journal with a lot of info on the Lakers pre-season.

The most interesting part to me was Jeanie relating how the game against FC Barcelona came about. Here’s a snippet.

Originally, Golden State was scheduled as the fourth team in the Shoot Out but then received an invitation to play in China. While we understood Golden State’s desire to visit China along with the Milwaukee Bucks, it left us one team short for the Shoot Out. The Lakers front office contacted the remaining NBA teams but everyone’s preseason schedule was set. The NBA suggested a team from the Euroleague.

Blazers Scouting Report

Check out Lakers Courtside Connection before every game for the scouting report straight from the coaching staff.

Their starting lineup consists of Steve Blake and Roy in the backcourt, Nicolas Batum and Aldridge at forwards, and Greg Oden at center. Blake has had a number of good games against us in his young career. He’s crafty and can hit the 3 and runs the team well. Roy is a star in this league. He is athletic and active. They will post him up, have him handle in screen and roll situations, and he can shoot to three point range. Throw in the ability to defend and you have a complete player who will be an all-star for years to come. Batum is a young active player who can shoot the three. He does a little bit of everything and likes to play the passing lanes defensively. Aldridge is a long, athletic big man who will come to block shots.

Lake Show Heads to Anaheim

L.A. tips off 2008 preseason action tonight at 7 p.m. in Anaheim against the Utah Jazz, a legit squad that the Lakers beat in six games in the Western Conference Semi-Finals last season.

You can read all about the Honda Center matchup on the Lakers’ Gameday page, and check out the scouting report at Lakers Courtside Connection.

In other news, which Laker do you think would be the best addition to the cast of the new 90210? Vlad Rad? Bynum? Coby Karl? How about Brian Shaw as the new gym teacher? Anybody?

Cheers.
